By this time the river was starting to find a new route. Water flow can be seen coming from Dee Bank Road on to Bridge Street.
Dee Bank Road closed to traffic
By this time I should have realised that the situation was getting dangerous. I proceeded to take a look at the River Dee. The river has now risen to lapping the top step of the wall by Cornellan Square.
The picture of the steps was taken at 9.50am.
Polhollick monitoring station was recording a river height at this time of 3.061 metres (time 09:45).
Up at the Mar Lodge river monitoring station, the Dee had reached 3.068 metres (recorded at 09:45).
Now that the data is available it can be seen that the Dee peeked at Mar Lodge monitoring station at around 09:00 at a height of 3.101 metres. The Dee peeked at Polholick monitoring station at around 11:45am (height recorded 3.219 metres).
What I am many others at this time did not know was that at 9.50am the river had yet to peek at Ballater.
